McFarlane Knows Best For Spidey 4

Note to self: Stay away from the Raimi brothers

Note to self: Stay away from the Raimi brothers

Let’s put it out there, Sam and Ivan Raimi destroyed Spider-Man 3. Venom’s introduction was poorly executed and Mary Jane should have been off’d two films ago. Had Sony stuck with their original storyline of incorporating The Vulture (Ben Kingsley), the third installment would have been just a great as the second. Nevertheless, that isn’t stopping Sony from putting out another film. And Venom’s co-creator, Todd McFarlane, offers insight that speaks in high volumes for Spidey fans.

Mcfarlane told MTV News: “I think he might make an appearance here in the next one, too”. Describing his own vision of the character, he says, “I would’ve done a few things different. When I first created him, I made him huge. That would’ve been the first thing for me; I would’ve wanted somebody who looked like he was three times the size of Spider-Man, so it was almost like Spider-Man going against the Hulk… I want] someone who is really formidable… I would’ve done something more dramatic. [I also would’ve increased] the nastiness; I never cared too much about the comic’s code. I always pushed the envelope until the editor said ‘You’d better pull that back.”

If Venom returns for Spider-Man 4, Sony…take heed to what McFarlane says.
