$1,000 2.0 Speakers…Seriously

Ok, a grand for 2.0 speakers? Sounds ludicrous, but creators Harmon Kardon feel their GLA-55 Speakers are worth every penny. We’re looking at a pair of uniquely designed speakers that aren’t paired with a subwoofer, and are obviously catered to more high-end sound junkies. CMMD transducers supposedly produce incredible bass response, with Atlas AL rounding out special features. Did Harmon not hear the country was still in a recession?

MGS: Peace Walker Slated For May 2010

PSP and Metal Gear Solid fans finally have a release date for Peace Walker: May 25, 2011. Set in between the original Metal Gear and MGS: Portable Ops, the story follows Naked Snake in his adventure to create the Outer Heaven. Four-player co-op will also be available. Sony has another smash awaiting in the wings to help push Sony’s portable sales. Hopefully!

Captain Kirk Confirmed as New Jack Ryan

The search for the next Jack Ryan is officially over. Say hello to Star Trek’s Chris Pine. Producer Mace Neufeld updated everyone at a press conference for the Clint Eastwood film, Invictus, about the untitled Jack Ryan project. Apparently the next film will not be based on a Tom Clancy novel, and will feature an original screenplay written by Adam Koxac. Speaking on the plot, Neufeld says, “We pick him up when he’s on Wall Street. But I’m not going to tell you the rest of the story…” The new Jack Ryan film is projected for a 2011 release.

Leaked 3G BlackBerry Pearl 2 Footage

It’s gone through a number of name changes (100/Stratus/Striker), but everyone refers to it as the BlackBerry Pearl 2. Anyways, this leaked footage indicates the Pearl 2 model is slightly bigger than its predecessor, and comes updated with a 3.2-megapixel camera w/ flash and Wi-Fi capability on a 3G network. Judging by the video, the trackball is replaced by an optical trackpad (ala Curve 8530 and Bold 9700) and features new multimedia buttons. April 2010 is the projected release date for the Pearl 2.
